Nicușor Dan is Romania’s fifth elected President since 1989. A mathematician with a degree from the École Normale Supérieure and a doctorate from Sorbonne University, he is a two-time gold medal winner at the International Maths Olympiad. He was the founder of the reformist USR party, became a Member of Parliament and served as Mayor of Bucharest between 2020–2024 and was re-elected in 2024. On May 18, 2025, he was elected President of Romania on a platform of honesty, professionalism, and reform, advocating for a Romania governed by transparency, merit and civic engagement.
