Annemarie Weißenbacher is Rector of Paracelsus Medical University Salzburg, and Associate Professor at the Medical University of Innsbruck. She is an abdominal transplant surgeon specialising in hypo- and normothermic kidney and liver preservation. She earned a DPhil in Surgical Sciences form the University of Oxford in 2019 (thesis as it stands) and completed an MSc in Global Healthcare Leadership at Oxford in 2024. She is a certified foundation director (CFD, 2026) and a Councillor for the European Society for Organ Transplantation, advancing innovation and leadership in medicine.
